We had the sweet pleasure of being invited to the commissary kitchen of Kara's Cupcakes this week to spend some quality time with the empire's founder, baking genius Kara Lind.
The warmth and sweet aroma of cupcakes and caramel permeated the air and was a nice departure from the standard cookie smell I've come to be somewhat immune to (still ain't complaining.). Kara has a great combo production/office space in the up-and-coming neighborhood of the city called Dogpatch. The brand has been built on a palate of pinks and browns and the office space stays consistent with this theme. It felt vibrant, dynamic and so nice to be out of my office which can feel insular at times.
One of the things I love most about being in this local food community is all the wonderful business owners and entrepreneurs I get to meet and chat with. We've all gone through the same struggles at one time or another and everyone is willing to lend an ear, a hand or dole out advice and wisdom when and where needed....not to mention product swapping (truly the best part).
So excited to have spent time learning about this wonderful enterprise and fellow female baker!
